Powerful Agile Workspace for managing Epics

The Epic Board provides a powerful workspace for managing Epics, User Stories, and Actions across Agile Projects within Salesforce

What is the Epic Board?

The Epic Board in Mission Control is a dedicated tab within the Project Overview that empowers teams to manage Epics, User Stories, and Actions for Agile Projects directly within Salesforce. Built around the Requirement Object, each Epic serves as a central grouping mechanism that allows related Actions to be organised cohesively — even when they span multiple Milestones or Sprints.

This feature enables teams to visualise work across both Epics and Sprints, offering a consolidated view that helps track how different tasks contribute to broader project objectives. The Epic Board provides several sub-tabs, including Create Requirements, User Stories, Project Builder, Actions, Requirement Overview, and Requirement Analytics, each designed to streamline different stages of Agile project delivery.

By using the Create Requirements Tab, users can quickly establish Epics related to a specific Project and Program. The User Stories Tab allows teams to draft and refine stories linked to Epics before converting them into Actions via the Project Builder Tab. From there, the Actions Tab provides access to create or manage Actions directly, ensuring that teams can build and execute projects from concept to completion within one unified workspace.

Why is the Epic Board important?

The Epic Board plays a crucial role in providing clarity and control over complex Agile projects that involve multiple teams, departments, and deliverables. Without this feature, it can be difficult to retain visibility into which department or objective specific Actions belong to once they are distributed across multiple Sprints or Milestones.

By visualising both the Epic (Requirement) and Sprint (Milestone) dimensions, teams can maintain a clear understanding of how every Action fits within the project’s overall structure. This dual-view approach prevents key work items from becoming siloed, ensuring transparency and alignment across all stakeholders involved in delivery.

Moreover, the Requirement Overview Tab delivers detailed nested and timeline-based insights into each Epic, providing a Gantt-style visualisation that makes it easy to track progress, dependencies, and priorities. The Requirement Analytics Tab enhances this with visual charts such as Burn Down Charts, Velocity Gauges, and Hour Breakdown Reports, enabling teams to monitor delivery performance and identify trends in effort and capacity across Sprints.

Ultimately, the Epic Board ensures that projects stay aligned with customer requirements and strategic goals, improving communication, accountability, and delivery efficiency across the organisation.
